Led By Volunteers
In operation since 1998 and led by volunteers that contribute more than 22,000 hours of service annually; CORE serves more than 1,000 families in need every year with more than 6,500 major used furniture items including beds, dressers, sofas, chairs and dinette sets.
Gain the personal satisfaction of helping others. Enjoy the comradely of teaming with other volunteers. Help CORE make an impact on those who are struggling with poverty in the greater Summit county area. We invite you to volunteer as much, or as little, as you desire.
Example volunteer roles include:
Truck Driver
· Drive CORE’s truck to make scheduled pickups from furniture donors in Summit County
· No special drivers’ license required
· A good driving record is required
· Two or more furniture loaders will accompany you
· Job share with other CORE volunteers

Appointment Scheduler
· Work from home – anytime on weekdays and Saturdays
· CORE’s telephone line is temporarily transferred to your phone
· Answer incoming calls to schedule pickups from furniture donors, or Saturday morning warehouse appointments for families in need
· Computer required
· Job share with other CORE volunteers
Saturday Warehouse Escort
· Saturdays, 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
· Escort families in need through CORE’s warehouse to pick
furniture from their pre-approved voucher. Other volunteers will lift and move the furniture for you.
· Volunteer on a rotating schedule, one or more times per month
Home Visitor
· Conduct home visits to independently verify a family’s need for furniture
· Visits are always made in teams of two people
· Prepare a voucher for the family's furniture needs, and submit it to CORE
· Job share with other CORE volunteers
